Embrace Flexibility in Learning

The school year 2021 – 2022 is very special for all members at PennSchool, as the theme of this school year Embrace Flexibility and Innovations.

The complicated and unpredictable pandemic caused many difficulties for the learning process. However, PennSchool always keeps the maximum effort not to disrupt and negatively affect on the Eagles’ intellectual journey.

Flexible adaptation methods are deployed for each period of time in order to guarantee students’ health and safety as well as maintain their learning process. With the main  goal of “no students left behind”, online and face-to-face blended learning approaches are applied, allowing all Eagles to fully participate in the class even though some students cannot go to school. To achieve the best result, PennSchool’s teachers have constantly made efforts to provide Eagles with the optimal education pathway, even under extremely difficult circumstances.

Let’s see how PennSchool’s teachers prepared to embrace flexibility in the teaching process during this difficult time.

“The combination of face-to-face and online learning created many challenges and difficulties for both teachers and students. In this case, teachers have to try their best to ensure learning content, provide the best quality of learning to students in class as well as at home.

Unlike offline learning where teachers are always there to encourage, online learning depends a lot on self-discipline of students. Therefore, teachers must always encourage, remind and inspire them. During the lesson, teachers also need to regularly ask online students to speak so that they do not feel lonely. In face-to-face class, all students try to remind each other to wear masks, wash hands and follow 5K regulations in order to keep the best health.” – sharing from Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Suong, Class B3A homeroom teacher.

“The school year 2021-2022 is really special with many challenges and innovations to be able to meet educational targets, and overcome the barriers of the pandemic. It could be not perfect, but no students will be left behind, their learning will continue and certainly not be erupted.

In order for online students not to feel disadvantages when they have to study through the screen, teachers had to continuously connect to the qualified camera system, presented the lessons on Meet for both online and offline students to observe and complete the requirements.

Each teacher at PennSchool will constantly strive to be determined to help students find the appropriate knowledge for each student, accomplish the school year’s plan, and meet the requirements of teaching and learning in the new normal life.” – Ms. Nguyen Thi Huu Oanh – Homeroom teacher of class B2A.

“We faced many difficulties in the early stages because we had to manage 2 groups of students at the same time. Sometimes I felt really impotent due to the rise of unpredictable situations. However, the love I have for my students gives me the motivation to overcome the difficulties. I taught for both groups during the new lectures; then when face-to-face group practiced, I guided the online group.  Besides, I gave challenges and games for both groups to practice and compete with each other. I really feel lucky that my students accompanied and tried their best in this difficult time.

From those experiences, I and my students learned from each other and grew together. I got to practice and learned many experiences for myself. In the future, no matter how the learning methods change, I am really confident to overcome it.” – Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Class B1D homeroom teacher.
