On Peace Day, the PennSchool community not only engaged in meaningful activities but also reflected and shared their personal perspectives on peace.
Among many reflections on peace shared by students, Nguyen Bao Han expressed her hopes as a member of the younger generation for a better, more compassionate world.
“We believe that peace is more than the absence of conflict – it is the beginning for understanding, respect, and growth. Through our discussions and reflections, many shared their views on why peace matters in today’s world. They emphasized that peace enables communities to share, friendships to grow, and creativity to flourish.
We also shared ideas on how to spread awareness and protect peace in daily life. From simple acts of kindness and empathy to organizing events that promote creativity and compassion, these actions remind us that peace begins with each individual. Some suggested using art, music, and storytelling to inspire others, while others highlighted volunteering and community service as meaningful ways to make a difference. More importantly, these conversations sparked lessons in leadership.
True leadership, we noted, is not about holding power but about taking responsibility to unite people, solve problems together, and stand up for what is right. By practicing peaceful leadership in classrooms, clubs, and beyond, we aim to become leaders who inspire positive change.
Together with Pennschool, we celebrate these inspiring voices. Each step, no matter how small, contributes to a greater movement toward a peaceful future. By joining hands, we show that peace is not about acting individually but about moving forward together as a united community.”
Similar to Bao Han, Le Gia Huy also expressed his belief in peace through heartfelt words.
“I believe peace is something we should all choose. When you hurt your friends, they’ll feel upset and may do the same to you. Before harming others, remember you wouldn’t want the same done to you. The world also needs peace: wars don’t end hatred; they fuel it and damage our planet. Using weapons like bombs doesn’t make life better – it destroys the Earth we need to survive. Respect each other and care for nature, because fighting only makes things worse. Let’s protect the Earth and treat people kindly so everyone can live in harmony.”
Peace is not a distant destination, but a journey that begins in each person’s heart and actions. The reflections, thoughts, and commitments shared by PennSchool students on Peace Day have shown that every voice and every action – no matter how small – can create positive change. Together, let us continue to nurture the spirit of sharing, empathy, and love to build a safe and compassionate school community and a truly sustainable world of peace.
