Spreading the Culture of Peace within the PennSchool Community

On September 20, the PennSchool community actively participated in meaningful activities to collectively foster a culture of peace in celebration of Peace Day.
Peace Day is an annual event that raises awareness and honors the invaluable essence of peace worldwide. It provides a special opportunity for individuals to reflect on issues of security, conflict, and the challenges to peace that humanity faces. This reflection encourages everyone to take practical and meaningful actions to preserve and protect global peace.
With this year’s theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace,” the PennSchool community engaged in activities to understand the value of peace. The series of events began with the special Peace Day Podcast, which provided the #HomeOfTheEagles insights into the origins of this special day and offered valuable ideas for building a culture of peace within the community.
“Building a culture of peace is not just a goal; it’s a journey that requires everyone’s contribution. At PennSchool, let’s work together to create a world filled with love, understanding, and peace, where everyone can live in harmony and respect.”
This message was warmly embraced by the PennSchool community as the students came together, wearing blue shirts symbolizing peace, dreams, and hope, to inspire and reaffirm the values of unity and solidarity in striving for a better world. Even more special, each blue shirt worn was turned into a contribution to support the Northern Vietnamese communities affected by Typhoon Yagi, spreading the spirit of compassion and aid to those in need.
As part of the journey to cultivate peace through action, the #HomeOfTheEagles also crafted peace pinwheels and sent heartfelt messages to children in the highlands of Yên Bái through a Wishing Book filled with love. This book will be compiled and sent to students in Son Thinh, Van Chan, Yen Bai Province, as part of the “Strengthen the Present – Create the Future” project (Phase 2) within the main project “Yen Bai, For a Brighter Tomorrow” in the academic year 2024 – 2025.
We hope that the activities carried out in celebration of Peace Day will inspire students to continue promoting the spirit of peace and spreading love daily, not only on this special day but throughout the entire year.
