The Journey to Shine on the International Stage – GELOSEA 2024 – 2025

#HomeOfTheEagles Truong Minh Truc has proudly won the Gold Medal at the International Round of the Southeast Asian English Olympic (GELOSEA) 2024 – 2025.

Returning from South Korea, Minh Truc couldn’t hide his joy, pride, and heartfelt emotions as he shared his meaningful and challenging journey with teachers, family, and friends. Excitedly recalling the experience, Minh Truc said, “The GELOSEA focused on reading comprehension, essay writing, and advanced grammar and vocabulary tasks. Each round tested not only my English skills but also my ability to think critically and solve problems under time pressure. The level of difficulty was much higher than I had expected, and there were moments when I doubted myself. However, I stayed focused and kept reminding myself of the preparation I had done before coming. Outside of the competition, I had the chance to meet students from different countries, explore parts of Korean culture, and grow more independent by navigating a new place on my own. I learned to manage my time, stay calm under pressure, and adapt quickly in an entirely new environment.

In the end, I was honored to receive a gold award for my performance. Standing among the winners was an unforgettable moment that reminded me how much I had grown throughout the journey. This experience not only improved my academic skills but also taught me confidence, resilience, and the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone. I returned home with new knowledge, new friends, and a renewed motivation to keep challenging myself.”

As this was his first time representing Vietnam at an international English Olympiad, Minh Truc couldn’t help feeling a little nervous. Yet, with his confidence, strong foundation, and impressive English skills, he proved himself to be a true global citizen, engaging with fellow contestants, embracing new experiences, and immersing himself in the vibrant culture of Korea.
