Growing Throughout the Field trip

In November, PennSchool students had many interesting field trips to many famous places, such as the Cu Chi Tunnels, Yakult Factory, and the Ho Chi Minh City History Museum.
For Nguyen Thien Thanh, Class VAP-2B, the journey to the History Museum of Ho Chi Minh City had brought several unique experiences, through which students had a chance to learn more about Vietnam’s history and witness fascinating water puppetry.
“In early November, my class visited the Ho Chi Minh City History Museum. The museum is huge and ancient. I learned about the history of human development and watched water puppetry. It was a fun trip because I learned lots of things about history.”

Students had memorable trips to the Cu Chi Tunnels, one of the famous landmarks during the Vietnam War. The field trip imparted students a deeper understanding of Vietnamese historical events lessons, particularly recognizing the difficulties and hardships faced by the soldiers in order to bring peace to Vietnam.
“When I first came to the Cu Chi Tunnels, I encountered a forest with numerous tanks and jet planes, creating a truly incredible scene. It wasn’t until we entered the auditorium that I understood the purpose of these tunnels—they served as a means of protection during the war, shielding individuals from bombings.
Afterwards, we explored the village to gain insights into how the Vietnamese lived during the war. Upon returning to school, I realized that the forest was more than just a scenic landscape. It was a place to witness the sacrifice of many soldiers and the loss of countless innocent lives during the war. Learning about the history of the Cu Chi Tunnels was truly heartbreaking, as I imagine living under such circumstances must have been incredibly challenging, particularly considering the narrow walls of the tunnels—conditions that individuals with claustrophobia would find it hard to endure.”

The field trip to explore the process of probiotic yogurt production at the Yakult Factory was also an interesting adventure, helping students reinforce their knowledge, gain practical insights, further develop essential skills, and motivate them to study. That was the point of view of Lam Tuyet My – Class of VAP-8A.
“Departing early in the morning, the entire class eagerly arrived at Yakult Factory, excited to witness firsthand the modern and professional production and packaging process of fermented milk. We all recognized that this was not merely a routine sightseeing trip but a valuable and practical learning experience. I engaged in various activities under the guidance of Yakult staff, including learning about the company’s history, touring the factory, watching entertaining and vivid short films about the creation of Yakult, the beneficial effects of fermented milk, participating in answering interesting questions about the company, and receiving attractive gifts. Subsequently, we were invited to enjoy Yakult products, given instruction on waste classification for post-consumption plastic bottles and packaging, and each received a Yakult notebook as a keepsake.
Furthermore, our guide provided insights into the production process, extraction procedures, labeling, and the meticulous standards adhered to in creating delicious and high-quality Yakult bottles. From this, we gained a clear understanding of how each Yakult bottle we consume is actually manufactured.
The trip also left us with precious memories. Together, we explored knowledge, enjoyed ourselves, experienced, and gathered real-life educational information. Through this educational tour, we learned a wealth of valuable knowledge, reinforcing what we had previously learned and supplementing missing experiences. Simultaneously, I honed my soft skills through observational activities, asking questions, presenting, collaborating, and applying critical thinking and creativity. Everyone enjoyed this practical field trip, which prompted deep reflections on the application of scientific research to practical solutions for community health.”
