Joining the bustling spirit of the new year, #HomeOfTheEagles welcomed 2024 with many exciting activities in Spring Fiesta 2024, accumulating lots of memorable experiences from meaningful trips during Transition Week to gaining insights into the importance of social justice through Spirit Day.
At the beginning of 2024, the first event that welcomed the #HomeOfTheEagles was the Spirit Day event with the theme “Martin Luther King Jr. Day,” which took place on January 12, 2024. Known for his significant contributions to the nonviolent movement and human rights, Martin Luther King Jr. laid the foundation for racial equality in the United States and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. On this day, the #HomeOfTheEagles came together dressed in red, white, and blue – the colors of the American flag – to spread the message of freedom and equality. Additionally, students participated in a Raffle Draw game, which involved identifying the lucky student in each class to receive adorable gifts from the School.
In mid-January, the #HomeOfTheEagles had a dynamic, meaningful, and exciting Transition Week that involved experiential field trips along with friends and teachers. During this time, they engaged in workshops on baking, making perfume, and crafting soap, as well as achieved success in completing their projects. Alongside these interesting workshops, the #HomeOfTheEagles observed the fermentation process at the Yakult Factory and learned about maintaining gut health and preventing digestive diseases. Besides that, they also learned about fire prevention, firefighting skills, and ways to deal with dangerous situations during the transition week with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Team District 10. The Transition Week became even more meaningful as #HomeOfTheEagles explored historical events and observed artifacts remaining from wars at The Independence Palace and War Remnants Museum.
The cheerful atmosphere of Spring is spreading everywhere, and everyone is busy preparing for the upcoming Tet holidays. PennSchool has embraced the traditional Tet celebration with Spring paintings, fruit trays, and vibrant Tet couplets. The #HomeOfTheEagles also decorated fruit trays and dragon figures creatively to participate in the parade competition on February 2, 2024. PennSchool also provided students with enjoyable activities, such as building a wish wall for 2024, calligraphy writing, and decorating lucky hanging ornaments. With the theme “Spring Fiesta 2024: Blooming Joy, Dancing Prosperity,” PennSchool’s Spring Festival has brought students fun experiences in a warm and traditional Tet atmosphere. Students learned about the distinctive culture of Vietnamese Tet and explored New Year celebrations from around the world.
The activities before the New Year have added excitement to the PennSchool community, as they anticipate a festive and lively Tet season and a successful start to welcoming 2024.
