In February 2024, the PennSchool community came together to participate in the Spring Fiesta 2024 with many fun and engaging activities. Carrying that joy of reunion, the students gathered together to pick buds after spending the Tet holiday with their families and starting a promising new semester.
In a bustling atmosphere filled with laughter and vibrant music, the PennSchool community had exciting and fun moments at this year’s Spring Fiesta with the theme “Spring Fiesta 2024: Blooming Joy, Dancing Prosperity.” Wearing colorful “ao dai,” the #HomeOfTheEagles participated in many folk games such as monkey bridge, bingo, drum beating, mandarin square capturing, sack race, chopsticks ball, can throwing, and many other interesting games. Besides the traditional Tet environment, students also had the opportunity to learn about and experience the traditional cultural activities of the country, such as making fruit candies and wrapping “banh chung” and “banh tet.” This year’s Spring Fiesta was even more satisfying when all members at PennSchool enjoyed the delicious dishes and drinks as well as marveled at a fun magic show. In particular, the dragon parade and five-fruit tray competition of the Spring Fiesta 2024 also received enthusiastic responses from #HomeOfTheEagles. Each class displayed their class dragon on stage and a tray of five fruits for the judges to evaluate. After grading, the School awarded attractive gifts to 9 classes with excellent performances and the highest scores.
After 2 weeks of celebrating Tet with their families, #HomeOfTheEagles have returned to school to start a new semester. On the first day of school in the new year Giap Thin, #HomeOfTheEagles came together to the wishing wall – where they sent their wishes for a peaceful and happy new year in the Spring Fiesta – to pick buds. A meaningful gift of red envelopes was also given, along with the wishes that teachers wanted to give to all their beloved students in the new year. As the final activity closing the Spring Fiesta 2024, “Picking Buds” has given #HomeOfTheEagles the opportunity to keep many beautiful memories with friends in the traditional Tet space at PennSchool as well as learn about local customs and traditions during the Lunar New Year. Picking buds at the beginning of spring and wishing for peace for the whole family has been passed down for a long time and has become one of the cultural practices for Vietnamese whenever Tet comes.
Returning to school and starting a new semester, the #HomeOfTheEagles quickly regained their spirits and diligently resumed their studies. Additionally, they are preparing to participate in various competitions both within and outside the school to “collect” more knowledge and achievements in 2024.
With the support of family, teachers, and friends, the #HomeOfTheEagles will embark on a fulfilling learning journey, continuously striving to achieve the goals and aspirations they have written on the wish wall.
