Growing with the “Classroom Without Walls”

Some lessons go beyond the blackboard and chalk because knowledge is gained through journeys, footsteps on historical landmarks, and invaluable real-life experiences.

From mid to late February, #HomeOfTheEagles embarked on exciting Field Trips, embracing new knowledge and discoveries with eager steps, curious eyes, and the adventurous spirit of true “eagles”. At Dragon Farm, students experienced the simple yet enriching rural life of the Mekong Delta, engaging in hands-on activities such as wading through water to catch fish, planting rice, digging sweet potatoes, and interacting with familiar farm animals. After completing their “farming work,” they showcased their creativity by making traditional “in” cakes, crafting pottery, and enjoying Vietnamese folktales brought to life through the art of dry puppetry.

The journey didn’t stop there. The Field Trip also took students to renowned factories such as Yakult, Ajinomoto, and Acecook, where they explored topics related to gut health and the application of science and technology in food production. They observed modern closed-loop production lines and even had the delightful opportunity to taste freshly made noodles and fermented probiotic yogurt drinks straight from the factory. The adventure continued at Nhat Huong Baking Center, where students transformed into skilled pastry chefs, crafting beautifully decorated and delicious sweet cakes.

Beyond exploring science and cuisine, #HomeOfTheEagles also embarked on a journey through history, visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels, Ho Chi Minh Museum – Ben Nha Rong, and the War Remnants Museum. As they listened to captivating narratives from expert guides and examined historical artifacts, students gained a deeper understanding of the nation’s heroic past. More importantly, this experience instilled in them a greater appreciation for peace – a precious legacy that today’s generation has inherited.

As the saying goes, “Travel broadens the mind” – each trip is not just a lesson but an opportunity for the #HomeOfTheEagles to expand their worldview, enhance their learning experience, and absorb knowledge more effectively. PennSchool firmly believes that these “classrooms without walls” will empower future leaders to grow in confidence, resilience, and continuous self-improvement every day.
