For Nguyen Gia Minh, stepping onto the international stage and competing alongside young talents from across Asia was not only a challenge but also a memorable experience during his school years.
At the International Round of the Asia Business Simulation (ABS) competition in Shanghai, China, the moment Nguyen Gia Minh’s name was announced as a Bronze Medal recipient became a memorable milestone for him. Behind that moment of joy were days of preparation, decisions made under pressure, and the great expectations placed on every part of the competition. Recalling that moment, Gia Minh shared: “Hearing my name, Nguyen Gia Minh, announced as a Bronze Medal recipient at the competition was truly indescribable. It was a moment when all the effort, pressure, and expectations came together in an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment. For me, stepping onto the international stage and sharing it with young talents from across Asia was both a major challenge and an invaluable gift during my school years.”
Beyond the achievement itself, the competition also helped Gia Minh gain a clearer understanding of what he could accomplish when learning and working in a multicultural environment. From making decisions in a simulated business model to collaborating with teammates under high-pressure conditions, every part of the competition offered him practical lessons. Looking back on what he learned from the experience, Gia Minh said: “My experience at ABS gave me valuable lessons and insights. First, it strengthened my strategic thinking and risk management skills. When running a simulated business, every decision involving finance, marketing, or human resources directly affects the overall outcome. Second, teamwork and international communication played a decisive role. In a high-pressure environment, listening to others, respecting differences, and reaching a common understanding allowed the team to maximize our collective strengths and achieve better results. Finally, the competition strengthened my ability to adapt flexibly to unexpected changes in the market.”
Behind the Bronze Medal was Gia Minh’s process of actively building his knowledge, developing his skills, and stepping outside his comfort zone. For him, this achievement not only recognized the efforts he had made but also served as a reminder to keep moving forward. Looking back on this special milestone, Gia Minh expressed: “This Bronze Medal is not only a personal achievement but also a reminder of the road ahead. I would like to sincerely thank the School, my teachers, and my friends for always supporting and encouraging me to push beyond my own limits.”
Every opportunity to challenge themselves in a new environment gives students the chance to better understand their abilities, broaden their perspectives, and move beyond familiar boundaries. For Gia Minh, earning the Bronze Medal at ABS is a proud milestone and, at the same time, a starting point for pursuing greater goals ahead. PennSchool wishes Gia Minh and all #HomeOfTheEagles continued curiosity, confidence to embrace new challenges, and the courage to explore new horizons on their journey of “Eagle Vision: Define the Horizon.”
