Letter from Board of Principals
Dear PennSchool Community,
As September comes to a close, our school is buzzing with energy and purpose. The year is fully underway, and it has been a joy to see our students dive into learning, friendships, and activities with such enthusiasm. This month, our focus has been on one of PennSchool’s most defining core values: Innovation.
Thomas Edison once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” His words remind us that true innovation requires resilience. Innovation isn’t about always getting it right the first time; it’s about the courage to try, to stumble, and to rise again with new insight. In our classrooms and beyond, we want our students to see mistakes not as setbacks, but as stepping stones toward discovery.
Technology plays an important role in this journey. Computers are no longer optional; they are essential tools for learning, creating, and preparing for the future. Yet, we also know they can be tempting distractions. The same device that unlocks endless learning opportunities also hosts the games and entertainment our students love. To help parents strike the right balance, there are a number of tools you may wish to explore, such as Qustodio, AirDroid, and Kaspersky. These applications allow families to set boundaries around screen time, ensuring children stay focused during study hours while still enjoying play during their free time. While every family’s approach will be different, the goal is the same: to empower students to use technology as a tool for growth rather than distraction.
This September has also been rich with meaningful experiences:
- We began the month with Vietnam’s National Day on September 2nd, a holiday where families across the country paused to celebrate.
- Later that week, our students proudly joined a nationwide livestream event, connecting with peers across Vietnam in a shared moment of unity.
- Our community came together for Peace Day, donning blue and sharing heartfelt video messages of hope and harmony.
- After School Activities launched, giving students fresh opportunities to explore interests and develop new skills.
- Our college counseling sessions began, guiding students as they look ahead to the exciting possibilities of their futures.
Innovation often feels uncertain, but it is in that uncertainty that creativity and progress thrive. I encourage our students and our families to embrace the unexpected twists and turns of learning with patience and courage. Just as Edison showed us, every challenge is an opportunity to discover a new way forward.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students grow into innovators, leaders, and lifelong learners.
With warm regards,
Mr. Timothy Nelson
Principal of American Program
