PennSchool teachers & students are ready to conquer new horizons

Returning to school with fresh energy, our teachers and #HomeOfTheEagles are ready for the journey ahead. Let’s hear from the PennSchool community as they share their hopes and expectations for the new academic year.
Mitchell Joseph Nickerson – English Teacher
The return to school brings me new opportunities together in hand with uncertainty. There is no telling what surprises the classroom will hold or what students will be capable of.
The beginning of the year is like standing at the base of a mountain shrouded in mist. Everything is still new and uncertain, but that’s exactly what makes us excited for what’s ahead.
The thing I look forward to is greeting my new students with a broad smile and discovering the lively personalities they bring to the classroom; creating new and meaningful interactions and opening their minds to the wonderful world of learning that exists all around them; and feeling the excitement of seeing what they can achieve and how much they will grow as individuals throughout the year.
That is how we define the horizon by eventually standing on that previously hidden great peak and curiously looking out over the view ahead.
Ms. Vu Khanh Vy – English Teacher
For a teacher, each academic year is about more than starting new lessons. It is also a journey of discovering and expanding new horizons together with our students.
Every student has a different horizon. Some want to master a subject, some hope to discover a talent, and some want to become more confident. Others may still be figuring out the answer to a simple but important question: “Who do I really want to become?”
I hope the new academic year will give each student the opportunity to look beyond what they once thought was possible, try new things, ask questions, make mistakes, and have the courage to start again.
Tomorrow, when the classroom doors open, I know there will be eager eyes, stories waiting to be shared, and dreams that have yet to be put into words.
And I will be there with a new lesson plan, an excited heart, and the belief that:
“Your horizon is not a boundary. It is the direction you choose to look toward.”
Nguyen Xuan Nghi – High School Student
For me, my final year of high school is a special chapter. It is not only a time to focus on my studies, but also the last part of my student life. I want to make the most of it by trying new things, taking part in activities with my friends, and creating meaningful memories before we each begin a new journey. I also want to challenge myself, step outside my comfort zone, be more confident, and not be afraid of failure.
The biggest challenge I want to overcome this year is myself. I want to stop procrastinating, stay focused on my studies, and give my best in the important exams ahead. Most importantly, my biggest goal is to get into the university I have always dreamed of attending. It is something I truly want, and it motivates me to keep working hard every day. I hope my efforts will lead to a result I can be proud of.
Beyond academics, I also want to make the most of my final year by spending more time with my family, friends, and teachers. When the academic year comes to an end, I hope I can look back and feel proud knowing that I gave it my all. I know the road ahead will come with pressure and challenges, but I want to keep moving forward with confidence, determination, and a mindset that never gives up.
PennSchool wishes all our teachers and students a new academic year filled with energy, inspiration, and memorable experiences as you define your own horizon!
