Our meaningful summer

Nội dung bài viết

When the autumn breezes blow, its signal of another summer will end. #Houseofeagles must have had an interesting summer because they had the opportunity to explore the world around them in different ways.

With the opportunity to freely experience without restrictions for social distancing as the last summer, #Houseofeagles have the opportunity to explore new things.

With Bao Thy B7, summer vacation is an opportunity for her to participate in many interesting experiences after stay-home summers.

“I participated in practicing sports like Muay Thai and badminton this summer. In addition, I took part in the creation of fragrant candles and soap for the school’s opening day’s display. I believe that this exercise is highly beneficial to my development of new talents. In Vung Tau, Nha Trang, I was allowed to travel at last. After months of strenuous study, I was thrilled to have fresh experiences and a break.”

Summer is a time to relax after a busy year, but students also do not forget to prepare for the new school year by nourishing their souls and strengthening their knowledge.

“In fact, during the school time, there would be the knowledge that we were difficult to absorb. That causes students to be afraid, want to hide, and gradually lose their learning interest. Therefore, I participate in some extra classes to improve my skills as well as use my time wisely. Participating in these not only helps me to use my time effectively, but also helps me prepare for the upcoming school year….

Music can have a great influence on people’s mood. It can push the positive energy such as enthusiasm, elation, and optimism. In addition, music also helps us to reduce negative feelings such as anxiety, sadness, depression, stress, anger… So during the summer break I decided to spend time practicing guitar – an interesting instrument. Learning how to play guitar helps me to relieve stress. Besides, it also helps me practice patience and perseverance – two important personalities that will definitely contribute to my future success.”

Nguyen Long Gia Nhi – B8

For ADP10 students, having the opportunity to become volunteers and participate in the school’s summer activities is an exciting experience.

“I got to stand up in the middle of the kids and teach them about coding. At the first time, I was really nervous and stuttered, but fought my confidence improved and I’m not struggling with that anymore. I have more knowledge about what a teacher needs to do before and after class. Sometimes it can be tiring and daunting, and I feel like it never ends, but I persevered. I also led a group of kids to build a bridge model, and I learned a lot about how to divide the work equally between the kids, and the results were wonderful. While the whole ordeal, I learned how to listen, how to make the group members follow strict instructions, and most importantly, how to be a great leader.

If we had time, we also helped to prepare food for the students, and worked as a staff. At the end of the volunteering experience, I prepared some handicrafts for the opening ceremony, namely candles, solid perfume, soap and bath bombs. During this project, I learned how to measure precisely the amount according to the instructions, and which way would give the best products. Although making those products is very time-consuming, in my opinion, the experience is well worth the time and effort I have put forth into this project. Overall, being a volunteer at PennSchool filled my heart with happiness and memorable experiences, and I without a doubt would choose to do it again next summer.”

Nguyen Hoang Linh Chi – ADP 10

Participating in summer volunteer activities like Linh Chi, Thai Gia Hung – ADP 10 also has his own feelings.

“In the summer, I had the opportunity to try “working” as an adult, it sounded so cool. “Going to work” at school gave me memorable experiences, such as working in groups with friends and teachers to give young students a meaningful summer, taking responsibility, how to make friends with them, and focusing on my work are impressive experiences.

In the first week, Gia Lac and I supported Ms. Nhi to prepare an experiment for the Science club. In the second week, Lac and I helped Ms. Diep assembled legos with young students, and at the same time we also made decorations for school. In the third week, me and other volunteers joined in the giant bridge project, our group’s bridge was the biggest. In the last week, Chi and I transformed into scientists to create perfumes, soaps, scented candles, bath bombs and lip balms. During the four weeks of “working”, I was fortunate to be friends with young students, and had a time to work with PennSchool teachers. Without the volunteer time at school, I will be bored and meaningless. Thank you for a great summer at my school.”
