Following an interview with the Council of International Schools (CIS), PennSchool officially became its newest member. The interview and evaluation took place on December 7th.
With over 1,380 schools and universities from 116 countries as its members, The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global leader in school evaluation and accreditation, employing rigorous international criteria and standards.
PennSchool met the CIS membership requirements by demonstrating its commitment to its purpose and direction through its mission, vision, and core values. These core values include the well-being of the school community; the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning; and the development of global citizens. Furthermore, PennSchool’s culture displays alignment with the CIS Code of Ethics and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
PennSchool’s mission is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to pursue their lives as global citizens. It carries with it a commitment to high-quality education and sustainable school improvement. This is also the core criterion that all CIS members have in common.
After completing the essential documents and interview, PennSchool completed its first step to becoming an official member of CIS. This was an important milestone, affirming PennSchool’s international standard of quality.
The interview between the CIS representative and PennSchool departments was a chance to talk more about the school’s management, direction, and strategies. All of which are based on the mission, vision, and core values that PennSchool consistently strives for. Afterwards, the representatives spoke with a group of students to find out about their learning experiences at school. It also gave the representative the opportunity to listen to their feedback in order to improve the PennSchool community.
This result further affirms the school’s efforts to provide a qualified international environment. Now that PennSchool has been awarded membership status, we will continue our journey of steady improvement by seeking accreditation status from CIS.
