Do Thanh Phong wins the Amaze Award at the Vietnam National Final (VEX Robotics 2026)
At the Vietnam National Final of VEX Robotics 2026, held on January 10 – 11, 2026, in Hanoi, student Do Thanh Phong, together with his teammates, excellently won the Amaze Award, making a strong impression on this national-level technology competition.
Taking on the roles of Team Captain as well as Driver, Coder, and Builder, Thanh Phong and his teammates continuously developed their technical thinking, enhanced their system analysis skills, practiced goal-oriented robot control, and strengthened their ability to handle competition pressure. In particular, their proactive analysis of match videos, constant testing and adjustment of strategies, and continuous optimization of robot performance clearly demonstrated the qualities of a leader who dares to make decisions, take responsibility, and pursue continuous improvement.
Stable operational performance, high-quality robot design, and flexible control were the key factors contributing to this achievement. Thanh Phong shared: “The learning environment at PennSchool, which always encourages us to experiment, learn from mistakes, and continuously engage in critical thinking, has helped me build a solid foundation, preparing me to take on greater challenges in the future and confidently pursue a path in science, engineering, and technology.”
PennSchool athletes and chess players compete at the Hoa Hung Ward Sports Festival
In mid-January 2026, Primary and Secondary students enthusiastically participated in the Hoa Hung Ward Sports Festival, bringing home many impressive achievements.
Winning the Gold Medal in Badminton, student Nguyen Hoang Minh Khoi shared that after earning First Prize at PennSchool’s Sports Fest and being selected to represent the School at the Ward-level competition, he devoted significant time to serious training alongside his younger brother. He said: “Thanks to the support of my family, the encouragement from my teachers, and the Board of Principals, I was motivated to push myself and successfully overcome five intense matches to win the Gold Medal in this tournament. The experience not only brought the joy of victory but also strengthened my confidence to take on larger competitions at the City level. I still remember that the semifinal match against Neon was the most challenging I’ve ever faced. However, thanks to my calm mindset and my father’s encouragement, I was able to get through the semifinal and then the final. I would like to thank the School and my family sincerely. I will continue to train hard to represent the School in the City-level competition”.
In Football, student Pham Quang Thieu shared the team’s journey filled with dedication and determination, from weeks of intensive training to master fundamental skills and build physical endurance, to developing tactics for seamless teamwork. Under the coach’s close guidance, each member continuously improved and grew stronger together. “To prepare for the tournament, our team trained consistently for many weeks. We practiced basic skills such as passing, shooting, and ball control, along with fitness training and tactical coordination. Thanks to our coach’s dedicated guidance, each player gradually improved and understood one another better on the field.

On the official competition day, the atmosphere was incredibly vibrant. Standing on the pitch and wearing our team jersey, I felt both nervous and determined to give my best. The cheers from the stands gave us tremendous motivation. The match was intense, with every player fighting hard, staying united, and never giving up until the final minutes. When the final whistle blew and our team achieved a positive result, all the exhaustion faded away, replaced by joy and pride. The football tournament at the Hoa Hung Ward Sports Festival brought me not only the happiness of competing and receiving awards, but more importantly, valuable lessons about teamwork”. For Quang Thieu, the sports festival was not merely a competition but a meaningful journey of learning about team spirit, perseverance, and self-belief – valuable lessons that will continue to guide him as he grows.
The School would like to extend its warmest congratulations to our students who gave their very best and achieved remarkable results across both technological and sporting arenas. May you always maintain your confidence, curiosity, and determination to keep striving forward, continuing to shine on your journey toward new heights.
