April in full bloom: A celebration of talent at PennSchool

April at PennSchool is not only a time of dedicated learning but also a vibrant journey for the #HomeOfTheEagles, marked by a series of exciting competitions across diverse fields, from debate and languages to performing arts and culinary creativity.

Sharpening minds – Mastering language

The intellectual competitions, the Debate Elite Tournament 2026 and the Spelling Bee Championship 2026, have delivered many memorable moments for the #HomeOfTheEagles and parents.

Kicking off a vibrant series of activities in April was the courageous journey of debaters at the Debate Elite Tournament 2026. The Final Round truly became an intense intellectual arena with seven dramatic face-offs. After drawing lots to determine topics and assigned positions (Proposition or Opposition team), the pairs demonstrated sharp critical thinking by seamlessly combining the defense of their own viewpoints with in-depth analysis of their opponents’ arguments. Witnessing the remarkable growth of students, the parent of Truong Nhat Thuy Anh shared proudly: “Participating in the competition helps my child develop logical reasoning and critical thinking through researching, analyzing evidence, and building arguments to defend their perspective. It also boosts their confidence in public speaking, improves emotional control, time management, and teamwork skills.”

Entering its second year, the language learning competition – Spelling Bee Championship 2026: “Words in Motion: From Letters to Leaders” – concluded with thrilling performances from #HomeOfTheEagles. From challenging rounds to the suspenseful moment of waiting for final results, the competition was not only a platform to expand English vocabulary but also an opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of word meanings and usage through definition-based challenges. Each round served as an important stepping stone, nurturing their love for English while building calmness and confidence in public speaking, helping them reach new heights.

Unleashing talent – Celebrating individuality

Alongside the intellectual competitions, #HomeOfTheEagles confidently embarked on a journey of exploration and self-expression through the Preliminary Round of Penn Talent Showcase and the Penn Chefs Competition. These were not only opportunities for students to shine through their passions, but also platforms where every talent was recognized and further nurtured for growth.

On stage, pure and emotional vocal performances filled the air, melodious piano pieces flowed gently, and energetic drum beats ignited the atmosphere, creating unforgettable moments at the Penn Talent Showcase. Each performance carried its own unique color, reflecting the individuality and confidence of every contestant.

Creativity among students was not limited to academics but also extended strongly into the culinary field. In the vibrant atmosphere of experiential activities at PennSchool, students had the opportunity to step into the role of young chefs, explore their passion for cooking, and develop hands-on practical skills. The Penn Chefs Competition served as a stage for teams to showcase professional cooking techniques with a diverse menu ranging from Tuna Salad, Chicken Tacos, and Kimbap to refined desserts such as Tiramisu. Beyond culinary skills, students also demonstrated impressive creativity and teamwork spirit.

The exciting series of activities in April has come to a close, leaving behind memorable highlights, while also opening up new opportunities for  #HomeOfTheEagles to continue exploring and developing themselves. Each experience serves as valuable preparation, helping students grow, gain confidence, and become ready to take on future challenges. At PennSchool, every activity is more than just a competition; it is a space to nurture passion, unlock potential, and gradually shape a generation of students who are confident, creative, and constantly reaching beyond boundaries.
