Recently, PennSchool learned the history of the Americas through Columbus Day. Annually, The United States and other American countries celebrate this day to remember the journey of Christopher Columbus to discover America in 1492 and the migration of Europeans to this new continent.
Even though taking place online, #Houseofealges still gets experience and learns about America’s history through interesting games.
Through this activity, students can see that history is not only an indispensable part of any country but also an interesting subject. History helps us to understand the origin of human life and gives us valuable lessons from previous generations. History is also one of the fields of Social Studies that students learn from elementary school.
Christopher Columbus is an Italian explorer & navigator. He was the pioneer to discover the New World – America and led to the spread of western civilization on this continent. The first purpose of the voyage was to sail across the Atlantic Ocean and hope to find a new route to India and other Asian countries such as China. Sponsored by Queen Isabella of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon of Spain, Columbus began his expedition in 3 ships Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria. After a 72-day journey, his delegation arrived in the Americas. After this first trip, he also made three more trips to the Caribbean and southern America to find gold and products that Europe had never had before.
Learning about the special holidays of the year is a way for students to connect cultures, become global citizens and achieve success in life.
