As the new academic year begins, after-school activities, including Clubs and the Talent Squad, have officially launched to provide students with valuable experiences, the chance to explore their passions, and the opportunity to learn new skills.
Although it has only been operational for the past 2 academic years, the Talent Squad has quickly become a favorite after-school activity among talented #HomeOfTheEagles who are eager to develop, learn, and practice alongside peers who share the same passions. It also offers opportunities to shine and showcase their talents on major stages both inside and outside the school.
Following the application process and the Selection Round, which took place from September 11 – 20, the talented #HomeOfTheEagles have officially emerged. To become a member of the Talent Squad, students must not only demonstrate their chosen skills but also surpass tough competition to earn their place among the new squad members.
With a passion for art and a keen talent, Le Hoang Phuong Linh decided to register for the Aesthetics in this academic year. To increase her chances of becoming a member of the Talent Squad, Phuong Linh carefully prepared before the audition.
“Before the official audition day, I prepared many materials to practice at home, such as specialized art pencils, erasers, acrylic paint, and colored pencils. Additionally, I tried drawing different types of paintings to meet the School’s requirements.I understand that art goes beyond just mixing colors or capturing details of an image; each artwork expresses the soul and message the artist wants to convey. That’s why I continuously pushed myself to reach the goal I set.
When the audition day arrived, my fellow students and I entered the selection process. Each of us was given materials by the teacher to use for our artwork. Like the others, I felt nervous and a bit scared as the time to complete our artwork drew near. I’ll never forget the moment when only 10 minutes were left and everyone was adding the final touches to their drawings and brainstorming more ideas, while I was still working on coloring my artwork. In the end, we all finished, feeling happy and proud of the pieces we created ourselves.” – shared Phương Linh.
After giving their best efforts during the auditions, the #HomeOfTheEagles eagerly awaited the final results. When Truong Le Huy received the news that he had been accepted into the Technoholics, he was overwhelmed with happiness and pride.
“When I found out that I had officially become a member of the Technoholics, I felt like my emotions were bursting. This wasn’t just a significant milestone in my journey to pursue my passion for technology, but it also opened up so many wonderful opportunities for me to grow and showcase my abilities. I believe every student has a love for a particular field, and for me, it’s technology. I’ve always been interested in programming, working with numbers, experiencing drones, and especially robotics. However, robotics is not easy and requires flexible thinking skills. So, every time I overcome a challenge, no matter how small, it makes me feel excited and proud of myself. The joy of finding a solution to a problem or completing a project has helped me realize that technology is not just a tool, but an essential part of my life.
Being part of the Technoholics Club has allowed me to connect deeply with friends and upperclassmen who share the same passion.. Each member of the squad brings unique perspectives and fresh, creative ideas. This diversity creates an amazing learning environment where I not only gain knowledge but also find inspiration. These are my thoughts as I got to witness the lively group meetings and exciting workshops of the Technoholics last academic year, which were filled with energy and creativity.” – shared Huy.
Just like the other members who received the news of their successful application to the Talent Squads, two new members of the Destined to Dance also experienced a whirlwind of emotions.
“Before joining the Talent Squad, I felt really nervous. I prepared for the competition really carefully. I practiced dancing with some songs that I like. On the day of the competition, I felt really nervous, but I tried my best. After the competition, I eagerly awaited the results and was happy to become a member of the Talent Squad. During my time on the squad, I feel both excited and nervous because some of the moves are difficult to perform. However, I’m happy to make new friends, practice the sport I love, and stay healthy.
Le Nguyen Thuy Anh (Grade 5) shared her feelings.
“Since I was little, I have had a strong passion for dance, and now being part of a dance team is a wonderful opportunity for me to express myself and unleash my creativity. I can’t wait to perform for my teachers and classmates, showcasing our hard work and creativity. I believe Destined to Dance will become like a family, where we can all shine and support each other.”
Nguyen Duong Jocelyn (Grade 4) shared.
“Every time I face a challenge, I feel myself growing and becoming stronger.”
This sentiment is not only shared by Phuong Linh but also reflects the goal of PennSchool in organizing competitions and experiential activities. We hope that the experiences of #HomeOfTheEagles in the Talent Squads this academic year will help them grow, be ready to face any challenges in the future, and build the foundation to confidently become future leaders.
