Season of love
Nội dung bài viết
In the beautiful memories, there is always a special “slot” for the memory of a warm and peaceful Christmas.
Christmas is the great moment to gather, look back on a wonderful year, review unforgettable memories and look forward to a better year.
For alumni at PennSchool, Christmas still remains in their hearts the deepest and most beautiful memories. Up to then, no matter where Eagles go, those memories will always be remembered as the most beautiful part of the “youth picture” under the roof of PennSchool. And in particular, Christmas is also an opportunity for us to share and spread love to the whole community.
“When I was studying at PENN, I was always encouraged to take part in volunteering and charity projects to help the people around me.” Dong Nghi – PennSchool ADP12 alumni
“From 2017 until now, the school has organized a variety of activities such as pig-raising, Spirit Day (including Peace Day, Earth Day, Pajama Day, etc.) allowing students to express their point of view on world issues. With each participant, the school gave 10.000 VND into the school charity fund. In 2018, a part of the donation was used for the Loving Christmas project which offered gifts and financial support to the patients at Ung Buou Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Joining these events has made me aware of how fortunate I am, and further motivated me to do more for those less privileged people, bringing more positive impact to the community around me.”
“In 2019, there were monthly market fairs and especially the Heart Connection Music Festival organized by teachers and students at school. Also with the support from parents and other people outside the school, we have successfully raised 1.3 billion VND for facilitating roads, school, and electricity to help improve the living conditions in Yen Bai. I had the chance to go with many of my friends to witness their living conditions, and helped them go about their daily lives with less trouble. I was truly grateful for the unique opportunity that the school has provided for us students to help and improve people’s lives, through meaningful charity events.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has stopped us from organizing offline events in the next few years. In 2020, the school opened an online charity market where students could sell their handmade products on the school’s website and deliver them to buyers. In this year, 2021, students have more opportunities to participate in the DIY classes and the school also organizes a “Light up the Heart” online music concert. Like in 2019, we will sell tickets and all donations will go to the school charity fund to support the families and children in need during the pandemic. There are a few challenges since all the activities must follow the government safety rules; however, that cannot stop us to continue putting efforts to help the people in need.” A sharing from Dong Nghi – ADP12 alumni at PennSchool
